Inspired by confessionally Reformed thinkers in Holland in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Reformational thought was especially productive among mid-twentieth- century Dutch immigrants abroad. This movement was concerned to develop philosophical and social thought in what it considered to be a more theologically faithful direction. Many of these thinkers made common cause to establish institutions which sought to embody their insights-a number of which took root in Canada. Among many others who helped build these institutions was the Christian philosopher Theodore Plantinga (1947-2008). Dutch by birth, Plantinga moved to Canada with his family as a young child and encountered the wide range of theological and philosophical thought throughout his education. In his work as translator, editor, secretary, professor, and writer from the mid-1960s until his passing in the first decade of the new millennium, Plantinga was intimately linked with various streams of the Reformational movement. The present volume brings together essays by colleagues, friends and students of Plantinga, all who have lived or taught in Canada, who interact with or develop themes which were important to him. Covering issues in the philosophy of history, the concept of worldview, hermeneutics, Christian education and ethics, this volume continues conversations in which professor Plantinga devoted so much time to engage. This collection of essays helps better understand the unity and diversity of the Reformational movement in Canada in the last half-century, but also provides promising paths for future reflection. About the Editor: Jason Zuidema (Ph.D., McGill University) teaches Christian spirituality at Concordia University, Montreal. He is author of Peter Martyr Vermigli and the Outward Instruments of Divine Grace and co-author of Early French Reform: The Theology and Spirituality of Guillaume Farel. He was a student of Theodore Plantinga in the late-1990s.
